2026 SLCA Photo Contest

'Fire & Ice', early bird CONTEST Winner!

‘Follow Me’, a photo taken by Dave Langman of his wife Chris, is the winner in the 2026 Fire & Ice Photo Contest.

There were many excellent entries including landscapes, stills and action – all of which painted a beautiful picture of Steenburg Lake in winter. It was tough decision selecting just one from the entries.

‘Follow Me’ sparked feelings for the viewer - showing enjoyment of activity on the lake with a big broad landscape view, which evoked emotion of both beauty and courage, as it appears the person is about to do the trek on their own!

The photo benefitted from rule of thirds composition with a well-placed horizon line at the top third and the lone skier leading the viewer into the photo.

The annual Steenburg Lake summer photo contest kicks off May 1 so get your cameras ready!

The winner will receive a miniature bonfire scene from Twin Flames, generously donated by owners Paulina Callaghan and Troy Hicks who joined us here on the lake in the fall.

Watch for the Summer Photo Contest opening May 1, 2026!
