Crowe Valley, which serves Steenburg Lake, is one of seven conservation authorities scheduled to form the Eastern Lake Ontario Regional Conservation Authority on February 1, 2027.

Have your say!

Ontario is inviting residents to comment on the proposed rules for the transition by December 6, 2026.

The merger is already set out in law. You can have your say on how the new regional authorities will operate.

What’s happening?

Ontario is bringing its 36 conservation authorities together into nine regional authorities.

The province says its goals include making permit decisions more consistent and directing more resources to local conservation work.

Read Ontario’s announcement.

What does this mean for Steenburg Lake property owners?

  • Until the transition is announced as complete, Crowe Valley is still our local Conservation Authority.
  • If you're planning to do any work on or near your shoreline for example, check with Crowe Valley to see if you need a permit.
